Events in Pembrokeshire 2022

2022 is shaping up to be a great year, and with lots of events planned already, we wanted to give you a taste of what’s coming up.  

Before your visit, please familiarise yourself with Wales’ Covid restrictions as they may differ from your own. 

13th January 2022 – Hen Galan

Once again, the residents of Cwm Gwaun are preparing for their annual New Year celebration, nearly two weeks after everyone else! 

18th February 2022 – Narberth A Cappella Voice Festival 

For one day only Wales’ only a capella festival returning featuring a spectacular ‘Singing Feast’  described as a celebration of community and song blending sounds and flavours from around the globe to feed your soul — as well as your belly!following a live concert at The Queen’s Hall which will feature performances across a variety of genres. Get your tickets early.  

22nd February 2022 – Last Invasion of Britain

On the 22nd February 1797, French forces landed at Carregwasted just south of Fishguard. Legend says that local resident Jemima Nicholas, pitchfork in hand, led a group of women into the countryside to confront the invading army. In 2022, the community of Fishguard will celebrate the 225th anniversary with a series of events.

14th May – 3rd September 2022 – The National Gallery Masterpiece Tour  

The National Gallery Masterpiece Tour will see famous paintings exhibited all around the country, including at the Glan-yr-afon/Riverside Gallery in Haverfordwest.. The exhibition will feature Hilaire-Germain-Edgar Degas’s Hélène Rouart in her Father’s Study from The National Gallery’s Collection.

14th May 2022 – Tour of Pembrokeshire

Entry is now open for this award-winning event, attracting riders from all over the UK and beyond. Join over 1500 cyclists on one of several scenic routes, or just come along to watch and enjoy the atmosphere – it’ll be fun either way! 

3rd-6th June 2022 – The Big Retreat Festival

This festival weekend in the tranquil village of Lawrenny offers the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy yourself. Discover over 300 of the latest “feel good” wellness experiences through tailored events, classes, workshops and talks.

10th-13th June 2022 – Out & Wild

Pembrokeshire will be hosting the UK’s first ever LGBTQIA Wellness Festival, packed with music, DJs, comedy, plus over 100 wellness, food, outdoor and sport activities.

17th-19th June 2022 – Unearthed Festival

Be part of the 9th anniversary of Unearthed, a family-friendly festival that celebrates the expansion of consciousness through music and arts, talks and workshops, vegetarian food and more.

1st – 3rd July 2022 – Long Course Weekend

Set in the Georgian seaside town of Tenby, the Long Course Weekend is one of the biggest multisport festivals in Europe. Spread over 3 days, the Wales Swim, Sportive and Marathon take place on the Ironman Wales course. You don’t have to do all three, you can pick and choose between disciplines and distances, so it’s ideal for the pro and novice athlete alike. There are events for children too.  Go on, you know you want to!

29th – 31st July 2022 – The Edge Festival 

Set on the ‘Edge’ overlooking the sea in the beautiful village of Solva, this three day festival features art, music, food, literature and the outdoors. Music genres range from Blues to ska, choral to folk, and the literature tent features talks from poets and writers as well as the odd book launch. For children and families, there’s a range of activities including nature walks, baking, crafts and more.

End of August 2022 – Aberjazz  

Aberjazz brings live jazz and blues music to Fishguard and North Pembrokeshire all year round, but at the end of August each year, Fishguard is jumping with jazz during their five-day festival packed with events and free workshops. Organised concerts are spread across the town, but you’ll also find impromptu gigs popping up in cafes and pubs.

11th September 2022 – Ironman Wales

Called by some as one of the hardest Ironman races in the world, Ironman Wales in the seaside town of Tenby is not for the faint hearted. The 2.4 mile swim is followed by a 112-mile cycle, and to top it all off, a marathon… Yep, that’s another 26.2 miles, and with this being Wales, it’s hilly! If you’re not into ultra fitness enough to take part, it still makes for an epic day as a spectator  – the atmosphere from 6:30am until midnight is electric.

24th – 25th September 2022 – Narberth Food Festival

This event prides itself on the warm welcome it offers to everyone, whether foodies, families or fun-lovers, and relishes its reputation as ‘the friendliest food festival in Wales’. There’s chef demonstrations and masterclasses, kids’ activities, a live music stage, street theatre, a licensed bar and plenty of food, glorious food from primarily Welsh producers.

7th-16th October 2022World Rowing Coastal Championships

Adventurous coastal rowers (wilder cousins of the sport’s flat water equivalent!) will head to Saundersfoot beach for an unmissable World Rowing Coastal Championships and Beach Sprint Finals. Rowers from all across the globe will descend on the seaside village for this international competition.

18th – 20th November 2022 – Tenby Blues Festival 

Head to Tenby in November and you could end up singing the Blues, when the seaside town hosts national and international Blues artists and comes alive for a whole weekend of fabulous, toe-tapping music. Expect over 40 gigs in 20 venues, and the majority of them are free!
