Arts & crafts in Pembrokeshire
Artists and craftspeople gravitate to this part of south-west Wales, attracted by the seascapes, quality of light and that special Celtic magic that comes with the territory.
Three must-visits are the gallery at Oriel y Parc Landscape Gallery in St Davids and Tenby Museum and Gallery, home to world-class artists such as Graham Sutherland who described Pembrokeshire as a ‘land of exultant strangeness’ and other artistic superstars Augustus and Gwen John, Kyffin Williams and John Piper to name just a few. The Riverside Gallery in Haverfordwest showcases items of both local and national importance in conjunction with The National Library of Wales.
Crafty hotspots can be found across Pembrokeshire. There are galleries and workshops everywhere, in tiny villages and tucked away down country lanes high in Preseli Mountains. Head to Haverfordwest, Narberth, Milford Marina, Newport, St Davids, Saundersfoot, just to name a few if you want to browse several shops. Also, look out for the Pembrokeshire Craft Makers exhibitions.
Pembrokeshire has no end of talent; you’re bound to see something you just have to take home!
