Museums & galleries in Pembrokeshire
Pembrokeshire boasts not one but two fine galleries: The newly opened Glan-Yr-Afon/Riverside in Haverfordwest displays work from the National Library of Wales and at the Oriel y Parc gallery, fine landscapes are displayed from the National Museum of Wales’ collection.
But unfortunately, you can’t take those pieces home!
To get your hands on a fabulous work of art you’ll need to track down one of the art galleries in Pembrokeshire that house work by a collection of artists: painters, sculptors, potters and jewellery makers all under one roof.
Pembrokeshire’s colourful past can be seen in several museums. Scolton Manor is a 60-acre country park that includes a Victorian Manor House museum. Narberth Museum is filled with clever, engaging exhibits. Tenby Museum & Art Gallery is a treasure chest of history, telling the story of a fishing and trading port that became a fashionable resort.
The Last Invasion Tapestry in Fishguard is an amazing embroidered 30-metre long tapestry that tells the story of the 1797 last invasion of mainland Britain. It took 70 women two years to complete this stitching masterpiece.
