Carreg Filltir Las: Lord Rhys' Journey

As part of a special celebration marking 850 years since the first Eisteddfod hosted by Lord Rhys at Cardigan Castle a spectacular 5-metre-tall puppet of Lord Rhys, created by Small World Theatre Company, will be travelling through the communities of west Wales before arriving in Cardigan on 27 June.

Join a spectacular community celebration in the lead up to this year’s National Eisteddfod as the streets of St Davids will come alive as Lord Rhys awakens at St Davids Cathedral before joining a giant community procession through the city to Oriel y Parc National Park Discovery Centre, where the welcome ceremony will be held, led by Eddie Ladd, Mari Mathias and Ceri Wyn Jones. This exciting, nationally significant event will transform the city into a vibrant celebration of Welsh culture, community and creativity, inviting people of all ages to take part in a unique shared experience. After the ceremony, enjoy live music from Mari Matthias and Lowri Evans with poetry from Ceri Wyn Jones.
