Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Martin Jones, although almost everybody knows me as Marty, and I run Darth Marty Media and Before it Fades, two Pembrokeshire-based photography businesses. I’ve been behind a camera for more than 20 years but took the slightly terrifying leap into doing it full-time this summer. I work with businesses, charities, events, organisations and individuals, with a particular love for photographing people and telling the real stories behind what they do.

One thing people might not know about your business?
I absolutely love photographing people. I find people endlessly fascinating, and I’m especially drawn to the unplanned moments! It’s the surprise moments, genuine reactions, laughter, emotion and little interactions that nobody knew were going to happen that I love capturing. Give me real people being themselves and I’m very happy.
Favourite place or hidden gem in Pembrokeshire?
This is almost an impossible question! I love Milford Haven, but if you’re forcing me to choose, the Deer Park at Marloes is probably my favourite place in Pembrokeshire. The viewpoint at Dinas is right up there too. Both are absolutely stunning places to sit with a picnic and remind yourself just how lucky we are to live here.

Anything else you’d like visitors to know?
That Pembrokeshire is about far more than beautiful scenery. Obviously, we’re ridiculously lucky with the coastline and countryside, but for me it’s the people and communities that really make this place special. The independent businesses, events and characters give Pembrokeshire its identity. The scenery just provides a pretty spectacular backdrop! That’s increasingly what I want my photography to celebrate: the people, places and stories that make Pembrokeshire what it is.
