About Tenby Castle Beach

Access via the harbour or down a steep flight of steps off The Paragon.

This superb, sandy, cliff-backed beach can disappear altogether at high tide but is very interesting at low tide, especially between Castle Hill and St Catherine’s Island which, unfortunately, is out of bounds.

The boats to Caldey Island depart from Castle Beach at low tide when the harbour is dry.

Dogs at Tenby Castle Beach

From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are not allowed on the beach west of St Catherine's Island. A small area at the harbour end, by the lifeboat station, stays open to dogs.

Dogs must be kept on a lead on the promenade and in the car parks from 1 May to 30 September.

Please keep to the dog-friendly areas shown on the map, and always clean up after your dog.

If you’re planning to visit, check out the tide times to make sure you’ve plenty of beach to play on and that you don’t get cut off by the incoming tide!

Parking

The multi-storey car park is the closest but fills up quickly in summer. If you arrive after 10am during the school summer holidays, head straight for the park and ride and use the free shuttle bus.

Facilities

Lifeguards from the end of June to the end of September. Deckchair and sunbed hire. Dennis' Cafe is right on the beach.

Onshore facilities

Toilets, cafe and museum/art gallery on Castle Hill. Numerous cafes, pubs and restaurants, many interesting shops and a good choice of hotels, caravan parks, B&Bs and self catering in Tenby.
