Set in a beautifully restored art deco building, this award-winning venture blends foraging courses, a wild food restaurant, handmade natural skincare, and cosy guest rooms – all with sustainability and the local landscape at its heart. We caught up with them to find out more about their creative endeavours…
Tell us about your creative business; what do you create and what is your process, who is it for, how did it begin, and why is it special?
The Really Wild Emporium – we are a multi-faceted and multi award-winning independent Pembrokeshire business, that puts the WILD, sustainability, and the environment at the centre of everything we do.
We run popular seashore and hedgerow foraging courses, our renowned wild food restaurant, as well as our Really Wild Soap and Skincare Company (where everything is made with natural ingredients, in small batches). Alongside this, we also have three beautiful ensuite Airbnb rooms set in the heart of the picturesque city of St Davids.

Seashore forage with The Really Wild Emporium
The Really Wild Emporium was set up by John Mansfield and Julia Horton-Mansfield, following Julia's incredibly successful Really Wild Food and Countryside Festival and her Wild about Pembrokeshire foraging walks. John and Julia took on an empty art deco building (now the Really Wild Emporium) in 2019 and lovingly restored it using reclaimed and recycled materials throughout, turning it into the multifaceted treasure trove that it is today!
We employ many local people at The Really Wild Emporium, giving them an opportunity to expand their skills, knowledge and creativity, using nature as their inspiration! This passion is then passed on to those who wander through our doors and onto our courses!

The restaurant at The Really Wild Emporium
What part does Pembrokeshire play in your business? Does it influence your work? Is it where you come from? What does it mean to you?
The breathtakingly wild coastline of Pembrokeshire is pivotal to everything we do at The Really Wild Emporium. Our passion comes from wanting to educate and inspire people on how they can use nature to support them, in a sustainable and respectful way.
Some of our staff are Pembrokeshire born, others have chosen to be here simply for the love of its landscape – both in the (sometimes) sunny summers and the wild, windy winters!
We are heavily influenced by the wild flora and fauna around Pembrokeshire, whether it’s through sustainably hand harvesting select plants for use in our food and skincare products, to simply using the landscape for everyday awe and inspiration!
