We wanted to get to know the lady behind the celebration, what the Edge Festival is all about and what you can expect from attending this fabulous Pembrokeshire event.
Who you are and what do you do.
Hey there, I’m Luci Chapman! One of the trustees of the Edge Festival and a big believer in bringing people together for good times and great music.
I live just outside Solva, where my husband Gareth and I run a small Greener Camping Club campsite and craft up some seriously tasty artisan cider. We planted a little orchard of around 400 trees nearly three years ago, but for now, we’re scrumping apples from all over Pembrokeshire and the Welsh borders to keep the magic flowing.
Event planning is my thing—I put together everything from epic music festivals, community programmes to business networking events. And when I’m not knee-deep in organizing, we’ve got two lovely holiday cottages for a perfect getaway.

Why is your business in Pembrokeshire - did you move here/grow up here.
After more than 30 years of running events across the globe, settling back home in Wales felt like the natural next step. When we finally made the move, Pembrokeshire was an easy choice—full of special memories from childhood adventures and camping trips we'd shared together. There’s a bit of family history woven into it too—my mum’s parents left Cardiff when she was young to run the Rifleman’s Pub in Haverfordwest, taking it over just before the war. Though they eventually returned to the Knap, that chapter always stuck with me.

What's your favourite thing about Pembrokeshire.
Really what’s not to love? From catching waves to coastal path adventures, from sunrise swims to laid-back, breathtaking views—it’s all here, and I’m absolutely hooked. The easy-going vibe makes everything better, but beyond that, there’s something deeply restorative about being surrounded by nature. Whether it’s the meditative rhythm of the sea, the fresh air that clears the mind, or the simple joy of moving—surfing, swimming, running—it’s all a boost for mental well-being. This place has a way of grounding you, bringing calm, and reminding you what really matters. I totally love it here.

Tell us something about your business that people might not know.
The Edge Festival was born straight out of the electric buzz that filled Solva during the filming of Under Milk Wood in 2014. The magic and enthusiasm swept through the village, and a determined crew of locals knew they had to keep that feeling alive. Just like that, the Edge was born!
With founding members Joshua Phillips (who’s back for this year’s Edge X!), Ifor Thomas, Gill Thomas, Becky Ricketts & Andrew Phillips leading the charge, the entire village rallied together to raise the funds for the very first Edge Festival in 2015. The passion, the energy, the sheer love for community and creativity—it’s what keeps the festival thriving year after year.

What makes your festival unique?
The Edge Festival is set in the breathtakingly beautiful (and, in our opinion, seriously special!) village of Solva. Nestled right on “the Edge,” the festival site boasts an unrivalled backdrop—the stunning St Brides Bay stretching out before us in all its glory.
We might be biased, but we’repretty sure no other festival comes with a view quite like this. Whether you’re soaking in the golden sunset over the bay or feeling the fresh coastal breeze as the music kicks in, it’s an experience like no other. Pure magic!

Anything else you would like the visitors/locals to know
The Edge Festival is powered by the heart and soul of our community. It's run entirely by passionate volunteer residents from Solva and across St Davids Peninsula. The festival simply wouldn’t exist without their dedication, goodwill, and love for keeping the magic alive each year.
We make it a priority to give back — sourcing all our services and infrastructure from local businesses, and inviting local musicians, performers, food traders, craft stalls, and charities to be part of the festival experience. In 2018, we became a registered charity, solidifying our commitment to supporting the community in every way possible.
No one on the organizing team earns a penny from the festival — just days, weeks, and months of volunteer hours poured in throughout the year and during the festival itself. And when there’s a financial surplus? It goes right back into the community — supporting local groups across Pembrokeshire and awarding bursaries to young people, investing in future creativity and talent. Because when our community thrives, so does The Edge.
