Surfing in Pembrokeshire

Take a good look at a map of Britain, especially Pembrokeshire’s location and you’ll be able to appreciate why the surf here can be so good.

As the prevailing winds in the UK are from the south-west, an unobstructed south-west facing beach will generate the best and most consistent waves.

Pembrokeshire has over 50 beaches with plenty of beginner-friendly beach breaks, and with most of the coastline being a National Park it also has some of the most picturesque locations and cleanest waters in Britain.  Surfing with a view!

If you’re new to surfing, the best way to start is with a taster session or lessons. We have some great family surf schools starting children as young 6 on their surfing journey. Some will take children even younger if mum and dad have a go too!

If you’ve got your board, have conquered standing up and want more of a challenge – where do you go to practice? Check out our top 8 surfing beaches for all abilities.
