Ynglŷn â The Cwtsh at Ffynnon Clun
A UNIQUE RETREAT
‘Cwtsh’ means cosy, snug, and that’s how you will be in this perfect rural retreat. Ideal for two, or two with a young child, or even your whole family with some camping in fields around the Cwtsh. This is the barn of our ancient (12th Century) Pembrokeshire longhouse, now a beautiful self contained suite of rooms – living/dining room, wood stove, breakfast patio, kitchen with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, Belfast sink, bathroom with large shower, and a traditional croglofft bedroom. Wifi, private parking, car charger (free of charge in sunny weather) and our own delicious spring water on tap. And all only ten minutes from the beach, cliffs, Coast Path, seals on the shore, porpoises and dolphins in the waves, the world’s “second best coast” (National Geographic) and “the world’s best beaches” (Guardian), plus ferry to Ireland and train connections from all over Britain.
REAL FOOD – TASTE OF PEMBROKESHIRE
The Cwtsh is a peaceful retreat on a working smallholding. We specialise in good home-grown food (eggs, honey, herbs, apples), preserves, bread, pancakes and cakes all baked by Christine. On arrival your fridge is ready stocked with breakfast goods – eggs, milk, tomatoes, bacon and sausages, cheese, butter, yoghurts etc etc. There’s a loaf of Christine’s bread, muesli, oatcakes, preserves, fruit, herbs and spices, and good alternatives if you request special diets. And the firewood for the stove is produced by Mike in our own ancient woodlands.
EVERY SEASON
This is a place for all seasons: the Cwtsh has wide patio doors for sunny breakfasts, ancient arrow-slit windows for cosy autumn nights, a skylight to view the Milky Way in winter and meteor showers any time. Ffynnon Clun has truly wonderful dark skies which glisten with stars.
WINTER RETREATS
In winter the Cwtsh is available at low rates for long-stay guests. If you are completing a book, writing a script, finishing a thesis, this could be just the winter retreat you need. Please discuss your requirements.
EXHILARATING COAST AND CLIFFS
Five minutes away is the 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the most exhilarating coastal experience in Britain. Walk a mile or twenty miles, but be sure not to miss it during your stay.
BEST BEACHES
“Forget the Caribbean or Thailand, Pembrokeshire has the world’s best beaches … at least 243 beaches of unparalleled beauty” wrote The Guardian. We agree.
LIFE IN FISHGUARD
At the foot of the hill, past Fishguard & Goodwick Station (trains and connections from Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester and London) and the Irish Ferry terminal, Fishguard has an independent bookshop, delis and cafés, galleries and farmers’ markets, the extraordinary Last Invasion Tapestry, and plenty of live music all year.
MAGIC MOUNTAINS
Inland, the Preseli Hills (once described as “better than a day in bed”) with ancient stone circles and dolmens, are the source of the bluestones of Stonehenge.
TWO’S COMPANY
The Cwtsh is ideal for two people, but we regularly welcome larger groups. For a child, you can have a single futon or bring a travel cot. In summertime some of your party could camp in the fields and woodlands around the Cwtsh. Back to nature, plus all the amenities of the Cwtsh.

GUEST ACCESS
Our guests have exclusive use of a fully-fitted self-contained suite of rooms. Outdoors is a breakfast patio, safe off-road parking, secure storage for your bikes, and log stores to keep your woodstove burning.
We welcome our visitors enjoying our forestry smallholding, including the orchards, woodland, ponds and viewpoints.
Ffynnon Clun is a working smallholding, and we give practical advice on safety on and off the farm.
CAR-FREE HOLIDAYS
We are happy to meet you at our local station.
At the farm gate, many coastal walks start, and you can catch buses either into town or along Pembrokeshire’s amazing coast.
Whenever possible we can help visitors on foot with lifts to/from walks in north Pembrokeshire.
WHERE TO BEGIN?
Cliffs, beaches, wildlife, ancient harbours, dolphins and mysterious standing stones: There is so much to see here, so where do you begin?
Our pocket guide, “A Walk to the Shops, Fishguard Style”, starts at our gate, and continues, via an ancient volcano, a sandy beach where French troops surrendered to Britain, an exhilarating clifftop walk and an ancient Celtic harbour, into the centre of Fishguard, with its cafes, bookshop, art galleries, markets, delis and specialist food shops.
We speak Welsh, French and German, and welcome visitors from all over the world. We hope to welcome you soon.

Hygyrchedd
All the accommodation (excepting the Croglofft – see below) is at ground level, a few steps from the farmyard parking area. There’s one step up from the entrance patio.
The traditional Croglofft sleeping platform is accessed by a robust stairladder with a secure hand rope and handrails. We demonstrate safe use of the stairladder, day and night. There’s a safety gate at the top and we can provide a panel to prevent child use of the stairladder.
We do not advise use of the stairladder by young children or mobility-impaired adults. A single futon can be provided downstairs.
Cyfarwyddiadau
Travel to the very end of the A40, at the roundabout by the Irish Ferry Terminal.
Don’t turn right into the terminal, but continue ahead, up the hill into Goodwick, soon turn left at the sign to Strumble Head and Pencaer.
Continue up the long steep hill, through hairpin bends at the top, and over one speed bump, continuing past the houses.
Soon after the houses stop and the Pembrokeshire hedgebanks start, look for the Ffynnon Clun sign in the hedge on the left.
Turn in to the farmyard.
Croeso! Welcome!
Take the train to Fishguard and Goodwick (not Fishguard Harbour).
Let us know your timetabled arrival time, and we will meet you at the station to bring you up the hill to Ffynnon Clun (5 minutes).
During your stay, the town bus 410 runs regularly into Goodwick and Fishguard.
The T11 and T5 long distance buses run regularly from Goodwick or Fishguard to St Davids, Cardigan, Aberystwyth and Haverfordwest.
The Fflecsi taxi/bus service can be booked to take you from A to B and back again.
