A Spacious Self-Catering Escape on the Wild North Pembrokeshire Coast

4 bedrooms • 3 bathrooms • Private garden • Dog friendly • Sleeps 8–10

Named after Penbwchdy, the striking headland that juts into the sea beyond Abermawr, Penbwchdy Cottage is a beautifully restored farmhouse offering space, comfort, and character for families and groups. This two-storey, four-bedroom cottage forms part of the Courtyard Cottages at Preseli Venture, tucked into the serene Abermawr Valley below the picturesque hilltop village of Mathry.

At the Heart of Pembrokeshire’s Wild North

Just a 20-minute walk from your door takes you through National Trust woodland to the secluded beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach — perfect for sea swims, dog walks and sunset barbecues. From here, join the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, an undulating national trail offering cinematic clifftop views and incredible wildlife watching opportunities.

Adventure Awaits on the Pembrokeshire Coast

Conveniently located between Fishguard and St David’s, Penbwchdy Cottage makes an ideal base for exploring the Celtic Cycle Trail, historic fishing villages, and offshore islands. Guests can book a wide range of activities directly with Preseli Venture, including coasteering, sea kayaking, surfing, boat trips, beach saunas, e-mountain biking, and lots more— making it easy to plan a full adventure holiday in one place.

Rustic Charm Meets Modern Comfort

Inside, Penbwchdy Cottage combines traditional Welsh farmhouse character — exposed stone walls, oak floors and a wood-burning stove — with modern amenities. Three bathrooms feature walk-in showers and underfloor heating. The spacious kitchen–dining area is ideal for feasts and festivities, and the living room offers leather sofas and window seating for cosy evenings after a day on the coast.

Nature on Your Doorstep

Whether you’re drawn to bright starry skies, seabirds and seal pups, or the morning chorus of the Abermawr Valley, this tranquil retreat puts you at the heart of Pembrokeshire’s wild beauty. The private garden, picnic area, firepit and BBQ offer space for al fresco dining and starlit bonfires.

Dog Friendly and Eco Conscious

Four-legged friends aren’t just welcome, they’re part of the adventure—with plenty of space indoors and out, miles of scenic walks from the doorstep, and even some dog-friendly activities. Penbwchdy Cottage runs on green electricity and renewable heating, making it a low-impact base for your coastal adventures.
