Molly Cottage at Castle Pill Farm

About Molly Cottage at Castle Pill Farm

This beautiful two bedroom cottage is situated in our Long Barn, a stunning grade 2 listed stone barn built in 1850, which now offers a contemporary and tastefully furnished space whilst retaining its character as one of the oldest barns on the farm.

The modern open-plan kitchen is well-equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, hob, oven, dishwasher and washer/drier. The living space has two comfortable sofas, a generous television and a farmhouse dining table for serving family meals.

Upstairs, the two bedrooms have comfortable beds (a King in the master bedroom and the option of either a King or two singles in the second bedroom; please advise preference upon booking) and so can accommodate either two couples or a couple and two singles/children.

The bathroom has a powerful shower over a bath and plenty of hot water.

Luscious laurel hedging screens the private garden at the rear of the property, discreetly fenced to keep your furry friends close by. Whilst attractive landscaped communal lawns offer secluded areas for enjoying the countryside and local wildlife. Parking is at the rear of the property (with sufficient parking for two cars).

Please note we offer Short Breaks by arrangement, please contact us directly and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is just a few hundred yards from the property and leads to further trails that wind their way through ancient oak woodland and to the Castle Pill Inlet of the Cleddau Estuary. Woodpeckers, kingfishers and herons are all common sightings, and crabbing opportunities provide hours of fun for little ‘uns. The woods are also home to a community project which has constructed two roundhouses with a free access woodland campfire area adjacent a freshwater stream perfect for paddling and dam building!

From the water’s edge, keen walkers can either follow the meandering coast at low tide, along the old railway line path all the way to Milford Marina and all that it offers. Or you can head along the Coast Path to the quaint village of Hazelbeach taking in views of the impressive energy infrastructure of Milford Haven. Here a riverside pub, The Ferry Inn, serves hearty pub food on its waterfront terrace and welcomes dogs with open arms.

The cottage is situated at the heart of our family’s working eco-farm and although unrestricted access to fields and farm is not permitted for safety and insurance reasons, we do offer guided farm walks to those who are interested. We will happily introduce you to our current collection of pigs, chickens, goats and sheep, give you the opportunity to get up close to a wind turbine and let you sample our home-grown greens and sustainably reared fish from our aquaponics tunnel.

We are also conveniently close to the old fishing town of Milford Haven, which will provide for your every need (with a Welsh Bakery, Post Office, Banks, the modern and vibrant live Torch Theatre, a Doctors Surgery and Supermarket) and has a fantastic Marina (with a number of quaint shops and charming cafes, a maritime museum, ten-pin bowling, fishing and sightseeing boat trips, a waterfront gallery and several popular waterfront bars and restaurants).

We are just ten minutes away from the unspoilt beach of Sandy Haven, 20 minutes from the popular beach of Broad Haven and the village of Dale (offering kayaking, surfing, sailing, windsurfing and coasteering) and just 30 minutes’ drive from both Tenby and St Davids.

Directions

Located at the end of a long secluded country lane, our property is accessed via the A4706 between Milford Haven and Haverfordwest. Sat Nav directions to SA73 1HE will take you just past the Castle Pill Crescent, adjacent to a large green meadow. With the Crescent on your left, and the green meadow on your right, continue down the lane for approximately one mile. Just past the farmyard and the pink farmhouse on your right, you will see the turning into a gravel courtyard.

Ahead of you, will be the impressive Long Barn. Cornmill Cottage is the fifth door you come to. Please pull up outside to unload your belongings. Once you have put the kettle on and made yourselves at home, please drive back out to the road, turn right and drive down the lane a further 100 metres. Take the second right, up a gravel driveway and park outside the property in the designated parking area, just outside the rear garden.

The nearest train station to us is Milford Haven. Taxi's are relatively cheap – and will get you to us in just five minutes (try Jock's Taxis on 01646 698818). Alternatively, catch the bus from the stop just outside Tescos (a short walk from the train station) to Steynton. Walk towards the Horse & Jockey pub and turn down Castle Pill Road. We are approximately one mile down this lane. The National Express bus also stops just outside The Horse & Jockey pub.
