Barrow to Blooms was established in October 2025 and out first seeds and plug plants were planted in February 2026. We are a husband and wife team and it has been our ambition to start a flower farm to show case and champion British flowers. Rol is a solicitor by trade but has been studying a level 2 RHS course, and Lucy is an HR adviser. Currently the business is run on a part-time basis but the aim is to expand our offer and our customer base during 2027.
Our flowers are beautiful and varied, from Cosmos to Dahlias, Zinnias to Gerberas! We currently cut and deliver flowers twice a week and we'd like to team up with more hotels, holiday letting businesses and of course individuals in order to grow our business.
Why buy local British flowers? The environmental impact of the international flower trade is significant. Many imported stems are flown in, racking up vast "flower miles" and requiring intensive chemical treatments, preservatives, and artificial energy to survive the journey. By choosing British flowers we are reducing our carbon footprint and by buying local flowers, our customers are supporting small-scale British flower farmers who typically have more sustainable approaches to flower production and distribution.
British flowers follow the pattern of our changing seasons and often have a more natural look compared to the symmetrical stems of imported flowers.
We want to champion this diversity and encourage everyone to buy British and buy local!
