A supporter of the Croeso Awards since their launch in 2022, the Port of Milford Haven returns this year as sponsor of the Sustainable Tourism Award. From its role as the UK’s leading energy port to its investment in Milford Waterfront, the Port’s work connects businesses, communities and visitors. We caught up with the team to learn more about their commitment to Pembrokeshire and why celebrating sustainable tourism matters to them.
Who are you and what do you do?
We’re the Port of Milford Haven, the UK’s leading energy port, supporting national energy security, international trade and regional prosperity.
We’re also proud custodians of the Milford Haven Waterway, responsible for maintaining safe navigation while supporting conservation initiatives and its sustainable, long-term management.
Alongside our marine operations, our work spans commercial property, tourism, hospitality and destination development. Through Milford Waterfront, centred around the 300-berth Milford Marina, we’ve helped create a vibrant destination where residents and visitors can enjoy independent shops, restaurants and attractions.
We’ve also invested in hospitality through Tŷ Milford Waterfront Hotel and St Brides Spa Hotel, both managed by the Celtic Collection.
As a trust port, we reinvest our profits into the Port to support its long-term future and benefit generations to come. Our social investment programme also supports charitable groups and organisations delivering projects that matter to our community.
How did you first hear about the Croeso Awards?
We’ve been a Strategic Partner of Visit Pembrokeshire since 2021 and have supported the Croeso Awards since they began in 2022.
The awards have become a highlight of the tourism and hospitality calendar. They’re an opportunity to celebrate the winners, but also the shortlisted businesses, dedicated teams and wider industry partners who all contribute to Pembrokeshire’s success.
Have you attended before, and what are you looking forward to at the 2026 event?
We’ve attended every Croeso Awards evening so far, so we certainly wouldn’t want to miss this one!
We’re looking forward to coming together to celebrate the achievements of businesses across Pembrokeshire. It’s also wonderful to see Pembrokeshire College students playing such an important role in delivering the event, including the catering in partnership with our colleagues at the Celtic Collection.
Why did you choose to sponsor the Sustainable Tourism Award?
We’re proud to support awards that recognise the people and businesses making Pembrokeshire such a special place to visit.
Sustainability is one of the Port’s core values and is central to how we operate and invest for the future. Our sustainability strategy focuses on supporting our people, protecting our environment and delivering long-term prosperity.
That makes the Sustainable Tourism Award a natural fit for us, and we’re pleased to help recognise businesses putting those principles into practice within the visitor economy.
What does being a champion of Pembrokeshire’s tourism industry mean to you?
We’re incredibly proud of Pembrokeshire and the role we can play in supporting its success.
As a Strategic Partner of Visit Pembrokeshire, we support the county’s destination marketing, helping showcase everything Pembrokeshire has to offer. We also contribute to initiatives that support tourism businesses and the wider visitor economy.
It’s a role we’re proud to play because a thriving tourism sector benefits our communities, our businesses and the county as a whole.
Thank you to the Port of Milford Haven for its continued support of the Croeso Awards and for helping us celebrate a sustainable future for Pembrokeshire’s visitor economy.
