The Pembrokeshire Coast Path

186 miles of breathtaking scenery

Opened in 1970 and hugging the rugged Pembrokeshire coastline for a spectacular 186 miles or 299km, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path forms the longest and oldest established section of the Wales Coast Path.

Stretching from St Dogmaels in the north to Amroth in the south, the Path takes in some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in Britain, as well as almost every kind of maritime landscape – from steep limestone cliffs and undulating red sandstone bays, to volcanic headlands, beaches, estuaries and flooded glacial valleys.

Amroth to Lydstep

A surprisingly taxing walk but with continuous interest along its entire length.

Lydstep to St Govans

A very scenic and varied walk that takes in some of Pembrokeshire’s most remarkable beaches and some historical sites.

St Govans to Angle

This stage can be a tough route with many steep uphill sections but has an amazing diversity of landscape.

This stage is easy walking and mostly on the flat.

Pembroke to Milford Haven

Many coast path walkers mistakenly bypass this section, thinking it’s too built up.

A comparatively easy walk without any serious gradients.

Dale to Martins Haven

Wild and exposed headlands punctuated by some of Pembrokeshire’s finest beaches.

Martins Haven to Nolton Haven

This is Haven heaven, stringing together 6 bays with a ‘Haven’ name: Martin’s Haven, St Bride’s Haven, Little Haven, Broad Haven, Druidston Haven and Nolton Haven.

Nolton Haven to Caerfai

This is one of the most popular sections of The Coast Path, with good reason.

Caerfai to Whitesands

On this rugged section, you probably see everything from the thrill-seeking adventurers on the cliffs below to seals hauled up on inaccessible coves.

A wild and rocky walk over some of the oldest rock in Britain dating from the pre-Cambrian period.

This route feels very remote indeed, especially as you approach Strumble.

Strumble to Pwllgwaelod

This could be described as The Last Invasion Trail, as it’s where the last invasion of Britain took place.

Pwllgwaelod to Newport

A short walk that can be extended by climbing up Carningli above Newport for one of the best views in the UK.

Newport to St Dogmaels

This is a long and challenging walk in wild surroundings but so worth it.
