• Festive Stays – While we’re fully booked from December 24th–27th, we still have availability leading up to these dates. Our festive decorations, mince pies and seasonal cocktails will be ready to create a cosy, holiday atmosphere.
• Tin Christmas Ornament Workshop – November 29th and 30th for a tin embossing Christmas ornament workshop with artist Megan Fatharly. A few spaces remain for each session.
• New Year’s Eve Celebration – A five-course dinner at Blas Restaurant, available to non-residents & staying guests, followed by live jazz in the Oriel Lounge from 9–11 pm. To ring in the New Year, we’ll host a relaxed drinks hour with a complimentary glass of champagne at midnight.

Our bouldering wall is also still open at Wild Lakes throughout the winter, so will be a great winter activity for those wanting to come indoors but still keep fit. This Christmas season, Carew Castle is transforming into a festive wonderland, offering an array of activities and events designed to spark holiday joy for all ages. Whether you’re looking to pick up a new craft, indulge in some festive treats, or simply soak up the enchanting atmosphere, there’s something for everyone at Carew Castle. Here’s a look at what’s on offer:

Get Crafty with Christmas Needle-Felting

On Tuesday, 5th November, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, Carew Castle’s Nest Tearoom will host a Christmas Needle-Felting Workshop, a perfect evening for anyone looking to try their hand at a new festive craft. This workshop is open to beginners and will guide participants through the basic techniques of needle-felting, allowing you to create your own unique Christmas decorations. Whether you plan to adorn your own tree or gift your handmade pieces to friends and family, this is a wonderful way to start the holiday season with a personal touch.

At just £15 per person, this 1.5-hour workshop includes all the guidance and support you’ll need. To complement the crafting, festive drinks and cakes will be available to purchase throughout the evening, ensuring you stay in the Christmas spirit. Spaces are limited, and booking is essential. Suitable for ages 12 and up.

Festive Fun for the Little Ones

On Fridays, 8th and 15th November, Carew Castle will also be offering Kids’ Christmas Craft Workshops from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. This after-school event provides the perfect opportunity for children aged 4 and up to let their creativity shine as they make festive crafts with the guidance of friendly staff. All materials are included, so all your little ones need to bring is their imagination!

While they create their yuletide masterpieces, you can enjoy the festive atmosphere at Nest Tearoom, where seasonal drinks and cakes will be available. These sessions are priced at £6 per child, with one adult allowed to accompany each child free of charge. Be sure to book in advance, as spaces are limited.

Meet Santa in His Castle Grotto

No Christmas would be complete without a visit to Santa, and Carew Castle’s Santa’s Grotto is back by popular demand. Every Saturday and Sunday from 30th November to 15th December, Santa will be waiting in his magical Grotto nestled within the historic Castle walls from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Children can meet Santa, share their Christmas wishes, and receive a special gift as a memento of the day.

The cost to see Santa is £8 per child, and all accompanying adults must purchase a Castle entry ticket, priced from £1.50 for children and £3 for adults. A visit to Santa includes entry to the Castle for the day, as well as access to the evening Glow illuminations for that day, making it a full festive experience for the whole family. Bookings are essential as spots fill up quickly.

Discover the Glow of Christmas Illuminations

Perhaps the most magical event at Carew Castle this year is the return of Glow, the Christmas illuminations that transform the Castle and its grounds into a twinkling winter wonderland. Running every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 29th November to 15th December, from 4:30pm to 7:30pm, this enchanting display of lights is set to be even more spectacular this year with new areas of the Castle dressed in festive style.

As you make your way through the Walled Garden, illuminated by dazzling light displays, Nest Tearoom will be serving up festive favourites, including luxury hot chocolates and mulled wine. Children can take part in Santa’s Workshop Trail, searching for hidden clues around the Castle to earn a festive treat. At just £2 per child, it’s a fun and affordable addition to this magical evening.

For music lovers, live performances from local choirs and groups will fill the air with Christmas cheer in the Lesser Hall every weekend during Glow. Entry is just £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children, with pre-booking essential due to the popularity of this event.
