Fishguard Bay Ocean Race

Late summer fun and serious elite watersports join up for the Fishguard Bay Ocean Race and the Land and Sea Festival at Goodwick on September 24th and 25th.

The Saturday race sees 60 elite athletes extreme canoeing between Abereiddy and Goodwick - riding 25km of big swells rolling in from the Atlantic. Paddling Ocean Skis (long, narrow, super-light kayaks) and Ocean Canoes (Hawaiian outriggers) in a test of fitness, stamina and skill as the boats reach speeds of over 20mph on the long waves.

At the finish line in front of Ocean Lab the athletes drop their boats at the water’s edge and run with their paddle the final yards past cameras and crowds to the finish gate on Goodwick’s parrog. There’s a brand new trophy and medals for all classes.
