What's on in July

July brings with it a soap box derby, a skate park jam, 13 days of international music, ghost walks, plenty of laughs and Dale is taken over by pirates!

Then to top it all off Tenby plays host to the Long Course Weekend, one of the toughest triathlons in Wales and the Tenby 10k.

Summer Fair @ Scolton Manor

Enjoy some retail therapy set in 60 acres of picturesque park and woodland as Scolton Manor hosts its Summer Fair on the 2nd and 3rd July. The Victorian Manor will host a variety of stalls, from local produce and plants, to crafts and furniture. From 10am

Dale Pirate Day

Ahoy me hearties!!!! Grab your pirate costumes and head straight to Dale for their Pirate Day....fancy dress competitions, treasure hunts, facepainting, pirate boat competitions, bouncy castle, stalls, live music and much more....all raising funds for the Dale play area! Fun starts from 12pm

Saturday 2nd July

Family Raft Race and Fun Day takes place on the final day of Pembrokeshire Fish Week. The fun begins at 12 noon on Goodwick beach. Music from 12pm - 6pm with live bands and a disco, sandcastle competitions, Tug-o-war competitions, a Fish bbq, a charity swimathon and the Raft Race (final event) starting at 6pm

Sunday 3rd July

Nordic Walking Workshop.

How about a Sunday afternoon stroll with a difference with Pembrokeshire Paths. Suitable for beginners and poles provided, this introductory session with provide you with essential techniques for Nordic Walking surrounded by the stunning landscape of Newgale. Leaving at 1:30pm. Wednesday 6th July

Pop-up theatre: The Fabulous Bacon Boys

Told entirely in rhyme and song, Living Spit are back with their unique spin on "The Three Little Pigs". With porcine puns, lupine laughs and more rural rumbunctiousness than you can shake a stick, straw or brick at, this promises to be a grown up fairy tale you'll never forget! Doors 7pm. Friday 8th July

Evening Ghost Tour at Pembroke Castle

Join Ghost Finder General, Howard, in an after-hours tour around Pembroke Castle's creepy passageways, gloomy towers and spiral staircases. Stories of ghost sightings and poltergiest happenings from the castle’s 900 year history of violent and untimely death. Victims, oops, visitors must assemble at the gatehouse at 6.45 pm and the gates will be locked at 7.00pm!  Adults only.

Friday 8th – Sunday 10th July

Long  Course Weekend, Tenby.

Pembrokeshire plays host annually to one of the most difficult triathlons in Wales – the Long Course Weekend. This unique event lasts three days; Friday evening see the athletes tackle a 2.4mile swim; Saturday is a, short, cycle of 112 miles and to top it all on Sunday the athletes run a marathon! It’s a fabulous spectator weekend but if you fancy giving one or all three disciplines a go there’s still time!

14th Signal Regiment Open Day, Brawdy Barracks

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the 14th Signal Regiment are holding their fun day with military displays. Food stalls plus fun and games. All proceeds to the Army Benevolent Fund and Withybush Hospital special needs and parents fund. The fun starts at 10am.

Comedy Club

Queens Hall, Narberth will host musical comedian Christian Reilly. In 2003 he did a BBC radio show with Richard Herring, called That Was Then, This Is Now. Christian will be joined on stage by Tony Jameson a college lecture who gave up his job t o become a full time comic. MC for the evening is Welsh comedian, Robin Morgan. Robin was a finalist in the Laughing Horse new act competition in 2014. It’s going to a good night. Door at 7:15 and ticket from Span Arts.

Summer Opera - Madame Butterfly

Rhosygilwen is proud to announce a full evening of wonderful songs and arias from a reduced version of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.  Directed by Henry Ward, and a second half opera gala of duets, solos and choral compositions. Performance begins at 6pm.

Dom Flemons at Burnetts Chapel

American folk singer and multi-instrumentalist Dom Flemons is a founder-member of the Grammy award-winning Carolina Chocolate Drops. He is coming to Pembrokeshire as part of a tour of Europe during which he will be headlining several top folk festivals. Catch him in the unique setting of a beautifully restored 200 year-old Pembrokeshire country chapel.. Tickets £10 each. 7.30pm.

100 years of Roald Dahl - art workshops

Let your imagination run wild at Oriel y Parc this summer.  Inspired by the stories and characters of Roald Dahl, this arty workshop includes 3 creative challenges each inspired by a different story. Guided city walk

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park are hosting a guided walk around St Davids. Learn about its history, some of the landmarks that make St Davids so special. The walk route and pace is flexible. Meet at Oriel y Parc at 1:30pm. Booking essential.

Fishguard International Music Festival

Every summer Fishguard presents world class music against the stunning backdrop of North Pembrokeshire. 13 days of world class music set against a spectacular backdrop of endless skies, golden beaches, wooded valleys and traditional west Wales communities. Tickets available.

Haverfordwest Skatepark Jam

It's Jam time! Come and take part in one of Wales' premier alternative sports events. Special guests include Maverick Skatepark, Moonshine Skateboard team, and many more. Open to all whether seasoned pro or beginner. Prizes and throw-outs throughout the day as well as Jam events for Bike, Board, Scooters and Inline. Fun starts at 12 noon at Picton Community Centre

Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th July

The Haverfordwest Grand National Soapbox Derby

Head over to The Upper Racecourse Haverfordwest for some crazy fun. This fantastic spectator sport involves watching homemade soapboxes in all shapes and sizes hurtle down a set course against the clock. It’s guaranteed to have some spills and lots of laughs. Fun starts at 12 noon.

Sunday 31st July

Tenby 10k

Will you be one of the 600 runners taking part in the Tenby 10k this year? This picturesque run takes in the beautiful sights of Tenby and will give you a good run for your money. Registration in advance essential and spaces available until 16th July. Go on you know you want to. Race starts at 11am.

Phew! What an action packed month. Roll on August.
