Saturday 1st August
Triathlon season continues in Pembrokeshire as athletes head to Fishguard for the annual Wales Triathlon - running, swimming and cycling as quickly as they can around the Pembrokeshire countryside. A great spectator event.
Merry Wives of Windsor
A unique opportunity to see this lively Shakespeare play in the atmospheric and beautifully lit ruins of the Bishop's Palace in St Davids. A proper farce, with plenty of laughs and a washing basket full of laundry. Presented by Festival Arts with their usual live band.
Sunday 2nd August
Tenby Caldey Swim
The Caldey Swim is back with 100 wild swimmers putting their skills to the test in this annual 2-mile open water swim from Caldey Island to Tenby’s North Beach. The race starts from the island at 1:30pm. Well worth popping down the beach to cheer them in!
Join the National Trust for a family friendly kayaking tour with Preseli Venture exploring the pristine North Pembrokeshire coastline. The National Trust’s paddling ranger will get you closer to the amazing wildlife, geology and history of the area.
Tenby Summer Spectacular
You know the summer has finally arrived when the fireworks fly down at the Tenby Summer Spectacular. Every Sunday in August there’s fireworks on the harbour with live music, entertainment, stalls, food and drink.
Saturday 8th August
Cardigan Food Festival
Head over to Cardigan Food Festival to taste our finest local produce, from award winning cheeses to rare breeds of meat, celebrating the quality and diversity of the superb independent food producers that abound in Wales.
Narberth Craft Fair
While down in Narberth the Pig Street Craft Collective are staging their summer Pig Street Craft Fairs, featuring original arts and crafts from artisans based in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire.
Monday 10th – Friday 14th August
Set against the stunning backdrop of Manorbier Castle Red Herring Theatre return with their version of the classic British sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo - guaranteed to entertain the whole family. Bring a picnic, rug or a chair. Refreshments available from the castle cafe at 7.30pm, garden open for picnics at 6.30pm. Tickets and enquiries to Span Arts
Tuesday 11th – Saturday 22nd August
The Torch Theatre is putting on nine fabulous nights of classic outdoor cinema screenings across the county. Will you watch Ghostbusters at Picton Castle or Dracula at Pembroke Castle? Back to the Future in Milford Marina or Notting Hill at Stackpole Estate? Take a look at the full line up on the Torch Theatre website.
Thursday 13th August
More Span Arts comedy this August with Canadian headliner Daliso Chaponda and the lively Harriet Dyer. Your MC for the evening will be Kevin Dewsbury and with a line-up like this your good night out is guaranteed. Tickets and enquiries to Span Arts
Friday 14th – Sunday 16th August
The Rivers Edge Weekend Festival is two days of live music, talks and readings, DJs and fantastic local food and drink right on the riverside in the centre of Cardigan. Grab a canoe, hop on the climbing wall or paddleboards on the river.
Get your classical music fix at Rhosygilwyn this August with the Jocelyn Freeman Piano Trio Friday night, dance lessons and a Viennese Summer Ball Saturday and proms from Russia with Love on Sunday. If you love classical go to Rhosygilwyn.
Tuesday 18th – Thursday 20th August
Pembrokeshire County Show
Pembrokeshire County Show is where to meet the farmers, eat local food, watch horse jumping or fast car races, visit farm animals of all descriptions and check out the huge craft hall. Everything you could possibly want to know about living in the Pembrokeshire countryside in one field!
Friday 21st August
As You Like It
The Festival Players are back again for another evening of open-air theatre, with their take on Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’, performed at Lampeter House near Narberth. Arrive early to enjoy the gardens with a drink or picnic from 6pm, play starts at 7.30pm. Tickets and enquiries to Span Arts
Thursday 27th – Monday 31st August
Head to Fishguard this August bank holiday, for another 5-days of jazz. You’ll find daily performances and workshops, at lots of different venues across town, to help you sing, play and dance the blues. You’ll be amazed what you can get upto in Fishguard!
Many events are ‘bucketed’, where entry is free and you’re invited to pay what you can to support this enthusiastic volunteer-run event. Some events are ticketed, nothing over £15.
Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th August
Annual Country Fair
Step back in time at Picton Castle as they host this 2-day celebration of British Country Fairs. You’ll find local produce and crafts, a dog show, gundog displays, archery, fly-fishing and clay pigeon shooting.
