Public Transport Directions

Bus connections: Eglwyswrw is on the 412 bus route that runs between Cardigan, Newport, Fishguard and Haverfordwest. The service is approximately hourly.

Rail connections: Nearest stations: Carmarthen, Whitland and Clunderwen (request stop). First Great Western operate through trains from London to Swansea; change at Swansea for connections to the above stations. Carmarthen is served by one through First Great Western train from London during the week and on Sundays - however, please enquire with train operator(s) for details.

There is also a service to Goodwick (Fishguard).

Air connections: Nearest airports: Cardiff and Bristol.

Sea connections: Fishguard (to Rosslare) served by www.stenaline.co.uk

Road Directions

Directions by road from Fishguard (Abergwaun) From Fishguard, take the A487 towards Cardigan (Aberteifi).

Pass through Newport (Trefdraeth).

After entering the village of Eglwyswrw, the Church is on the right and a small car park on the left.

After the car park turn left into a narrow lane.

The lane then bends to the right - follow the lane up the hill for approximately 14 miles.

Continue straight past the junction you see on your left, and after 100 yds/100 meters, where the lane widens, Ael y Bryn is on your left.

Turn in across the cattle grid, where a warm welcome awaits you.

Directions by road from Cardigan (Aberteifi)

From Cardigan, take the A487 to Fishguard (Abergwaun).

At Eglwyswrw, at the bottom of the hill and after the 30 mph sign, turn right into a narrow lane.

The lane then bends to the right - follow the lane up the hill for approximately 1/4 mile.

Continue straight past the junction you see on your left, and after 100 yds/100 meters, where the lane widens, Ael y Bryn is on your left.

Turn in across the cattle grid, where a warm welcome awaits you.  Directions by road from Carmarthen (Caerfyrddin)

From Carmarthen, take the A40 to Haverfordwest (Hwlffordd).

After passing through LLanddewi Velfrey, turn right at the Penblewin roundabout onto the A478 to Cardigan.

At Crymych, turn left at the Crymych Arms onto an un-numbered but good road to Eglwyswrw.

At the T-junction, turn left onto the B4332 to Eglwyswrw.

At the T-junction (with the church on your right), turn right onto the A487.

Pass the car park on the left and the cream coloured house, and then turn left into a narrow lane.

The lane then bends to the right - follow the lane up the hill for approximately 1/4 mile.

Continue straight past the junction you see on your left, and after 100 yds/100 meters, where the lane widens, Ael y Bryn is on your left.

Ael y Bryn, Eglwyswrw is a special place to stay with a 5 Star bed and breakfast Grade and Gold Award 2018 from Visit Wales for excellent quality, comfort and unfailing hospitality. We are also graded 5 star Gold with the AA and hold the AA Breakfast and Dinner Awards. Excellent evening meals are available with prior notice. We are not licensed to sell alcohol so you are free to bring your own wines if you wish. We do not charge corkage. Ael y Bryn is also a special place to stay for wedding anniversaries and birthday celebrations. Level access parking at the front door. We offer ground floor luxury accommodation in a peaceful location in North Pembrokeshire. Ael y Bryn is a family home and the accommodation including the music room, conservatory and library is for the exclusive use of our guests. All rooms are ensuite with spacious light and airy bathrooms: one has a large walk-in shower, the other three have a bath and separate walk-in shower. The showers have plenty of mains-pressure hot water. We also provide towelled bathrobes. We offer free and fast WiFi, Freeview TV, and cooling fan. The large inner courtyard with a pond, fountains and potted plants is a very peaceful area and a unique feature designed within the house. The water features include a large wildlife pond, cascading ponds and waterfalls. There is an extensive path around the large garden. The large wooden-beamed conservatory overlooks the wildlife pond and has extensive panoramic views of the Preseli hills beyond. Ael y Bryn is a totally no smoking house and due to a number of deep-water features in the grounds we regret we cannot accommodate children. We are situated between Cardigan and Newport half a mile from the village of Eglwyswrw in a peaceful rural part of North Pembrokeshire, with spectacular panoramic views to the South and West of the Preseli Hills and Carn Ingli. We are 6 miles from Cardigan, 12 miles from Fishguard. We are convenient for the Coastal path, the National Park, Welsh Wildlife Centre, Castell Henllys, Newport Golf Club, Cardigan, Newport and numerous art and craft galleries. We are open throughout the year except Christmas and the New Year. We accept all major credit cards. We also accept payment in pounds sterling cash, or cheque. Cheques payable to Ael y Bryn.

Ael y Bryn is approached off the A478 Cardigan to Fishguard road. Turn into the lane alongside the former Eglwyswrw Post Office the building immediately after the car park and follow the lane up the hill for 1/4 mile. Where the lane widens, Ael y Bryn is on your left.

Access is across a wide cattle grid or pedestrian gate onto a level tarmac parking and reversing area.

The entrance, driveway and paths are lit at night.

There is a level pathway around the perimeter of the property.

There is a level paved access from the parking area to the double front door, inner courtyard and conservatory.

Assistance is available with luggage.

The entrance hall has a large cloakroom with an outward opening door.

All public rooms are on the ground floor.

There are three guest bedrooms: one bedroom is on level access; the other two bedrooms are accessed by 5 steps.

There are two staircases, each with five steps. One staircase has a wheelchair platform lift fitted 650mm wide to connect the public rooms to two of the guest bedrooms.

All rooms and hallways are well lit with ample natural lighting and illumination at night. Hallways are 950mm wide.

All internal doors have a clear opening width of 898mm and have lever handles.

All three guest bedrooms have en-suite facilities. The beds in two of the rooms can be arranged as twin or superking. The bed in the third room is a kingsize.

Each bathroom has a separate bath and large shower cubicle 1200mm wide with a single sliding door opening width 420mm. There is a 150mm  high step into the shower.

Each bathroom has plenty of natural light and ceiling down-lighters, natural ventilation and an extractor fan.

We will offer assistance in the event of an emergency.

Each bedroom has a cordless kettle with tea and coffee making facilities, a Freeview TV, a Radio alarm clock and a mini fridge.

Due to a number of water features in and around the property the accommodation is not suitable for children under 16 years of age.

We do not have any dogs or other animals; we cannot accommodate pets.

Mobile phone networks are available except along parts of the coast and hills.

Information is available on wheelchair walks on or near the Coastal Path. Shopmobility schemes are available in Cardigan and Haverfordwest.

Ael y Bryn is located in a rural setting; cattle and sheep graze in nearby fields. There is an extensive panoramic view of the Preseli Hills.

The garden has a number of scented flowers and herbs, and metal and wooden sculptures. There is a path around the garden and pond with seating areas. There are a number of water features around the property with fountains waterfalls a natural stream and a wildlife pond. The pond attracts a wide variety of birds and wildlife.

The local public transport bus service to Cardigan Aberteifi, and Haverfordwest Hwlffordd via Fishguard Abergwaun, is at the end of the lane. Local taxi services are available in Cardigan and Boncath.
