We offer instructor led sessions both on the wall and out on some of Pembrokeshire's beautiful coastal cliffs. It is great fun for kids, adults, groups and parties.

Why did we build The Overhang?

Climbing is becoming an increasingly popular sport, and we all just love it! Our passion is climbing and abseiling and all things vertical and we hope to be able to provide something that will inspire kids to try something new, create a place for climbers to train and have fun, and be another great reason for tourists to come visit Tenby.

Who can climb here?

Anyone from the age of 6 and up but we do allow competent climbers who register with us to bring in their own children under their supervision under the age of 6. Schools and groups are also welcome, just get in touch to find out what we offer.

 Introduction

We are situated at the bottom of Castle Slipway on the left hand side as you approach the sea, the slip is reasonably steep and owing to its location which is half on, half off the beach, can be slippery when wet.

There are a number of steps and a concrete ramp to gain entry to the climbing wall and the door is 90cm wide, making it accessible to wheelchair users.

There will be a number of leaflets available and we have friendly staff who will strive to help whenever possible.

We have a floor space of 78sqm

We have 14 roped lines which are suitable for children and adults, and 6 lead lines. We also boast a dedicated bouldering area, and shop selling climbing equipment and light refreshments.

Travel

The nearest bus stop is at Tenby south parade terminus, which is 3-4 minutes’ walk.

The town benefits from a railway station which takes around a 10 minute walk or 3 -4 minute’s taxi ride.

The nearest car parking is at St Florence parade and it takes about 3-4 minutes to walk.

Toilets

There are toilets and shower facilities in the public toilets halfway up the slip on the left as you go up the hill. These are provided by the council, and conform to public use i.e. single sex use, and also they have disabled facilities.

Training

All our staff will receive regular training including understanding the needs of disabled customers; they will also be subject to a full disclosure as they will be dealing with children and disabled customers.  Trained Guide dogs are always welcome and we will put out fresh water upon request (the building is on the beach and we wouldn't want to drink sandy water).
